Input and Output Devices in Computer

Input and Output Devices in Computer Name: THENG WEI JUN Question 1 A computer receives incoming data, processes them and produces an output. Hence, in a typical computer, there is An input device i.e, a key board A Central Processing Unit (CPU) I.e, a box and An output device i.e, a monitor or a Visual Display Unit (VDU). Discuss in detail how these devices work together to produce information. Introduction A computer is a general purpose device that can be programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations. The computer is one of the 20th centurys most advanced sciences and technology invention, for the production of human and social activities had a very important influence, and the rapid development of a strong vitality. Its applications extend from the initial military research applied to all areas of society, has formed a huge computer industry, led the worldwide technological progress, which triggered a profound social change, computers throughout the school in general, corporate institutions, into the homes of ordinary people, become an indispensable tool in the information society. It is an important symbol of mankind has entered the information age. With the proposed development of the Internet, computers and other technologies once again set off a revolution in information technology, according to the definition of Chinese school-enterprise networking Union, alm ost all things technology and computers, combined with the current Internet technology, between the object and the object to achieve environment and real-time status information sharing and intelligence gathering, transmission, processing. Components of Computer Input Device The input device is any hardware device that sends data to the computer, without any input devices, a computer would only be a display device and not allow users to interact with it, much like a TV. Examples of input devices are keyboard, webcam scanner, video capture device and mouse. When the people use keyboard to typing, the keyboard will send the data to computer, the word will be show into the monitor. Output Device Output devices such as a monitor or printer make information you input available for you to view or use. A display device is an output device that visually conveys text, graphics, and video information. Information shown on a display device is called soft copy because the information exists electronically and is displayed for a temporary period of time. Display devices include CRT monitors, LCD monitors and displays, gas plasma monitors, and televisions. System Unit System unit is the main part of a desktop computer and it is also known as â€Å"chassis† or â€Å"tower†. It is the housing that is used for protecting and organizing all the components in the system unit that makes up a computer. System unit includes Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Hard Disk, Video Card, Sound Card and other components but does not include keyboard, mouse and other peripheral devices. In this section, I will explain and illustrate the electronic components in the system unit along with their functions. Working in computer The computer does its primary work in a part of the machine we cannot see, a control center that converts data input to information output. This control center, called the central processing unit (CPU), is a highly complex, extensive set of electronic circuitry that executes stored program instructions. All computers, large and small, must have a central processing unit. The central processing unit consists of two parts: The control unit and the arithmetic/logic unit. Each part has a specific function. Like input devices are used to input information to computers. Generally, the input devices send information to memory (RAM) and the processor or central processing unit processes the information and output devices shows it. Conclusion In my opinion, I think all the unit of computer component are important and their own role in getting a computer system unit to function. Input devices are used to input information to computers while output device transmit information to one or more users. Central processing unit carries out the basic operations or processes. Finally, all components are required for a system unit to function. All the components are connected to the motherboard which is mounted on the casing. If one is missing, the computer will become the system error or cannot working at anytime. Question 2 The Internet is a range of space where computers are connected to each other and they can access to information from ONE (1) place and apply that information to another place. Discuss in detail the advantages and disadvantages of internet in the education field. Introduction The Internet is a network of several computers communicate with each other using a common language connection is made, ie WAN, LAN and stand-alone international computer network communication protocol in accordance with certain composition. Internet began in 1969 in the United States is the carrier of a global network and a public information, which the mass media faster than any previous one communication medium. Advantage First point is encyclopedia, sometimes an encyclopedia may not always be available to students and they may have difficulty in gaining access to the books in the library. In that case, the encyclopedia of various subjects available on the Internet can be helpful. This is more useful for students who belong to communities not having English as their mother tongue. Kids and teenager can also be benefited by the Internet by using the pictures, videos, which is one of the major advantages, when comparing textbooks versus computer teaching or learning. Next, all the latest news constantly updated on the Internet on news sites. Students learning politic, can have an access to all the current affairs through the Internet in the college, at home, or at any other place. Example, if student want to know or search about historical accounts like speeches, biographies, etc., are also easily available on the Internet in detailed and accurate versions. No need to waste time or money finding in book shop or other place. In addition, another positive effect of Internet in education is the onset of distance education or online learning. With this facility, you can take up short-term courses with the course material available online, learn, and give exams. One of the benefits of online learning is that people from any part of the world can gain knowledge on different subjects, complete courses. Disadvantage One of the disadvantage of online learning is that Instructors will not be on hand or on campus and easily accessible to answer questions. While they may be available on email, thats not the same as having access to a living, breathing person and to be able to ask questions during a break or after class. While technology tools and the Internet infrastructure are becoming more and more stable, there are still instances when technology fails. Servers may be down, or you may experience periods when your connection to the Internet is interrupted. Hard drives fail, and email may get caught in spam filters and never be delivered. Its important to backup important class information and make certain that you have alternative ways to communicate. Working alone can isolate a student, making it easy to put off or neglect course work or drop out of an online class completely. It takes a certain amount of internal motivation to continue when youre pressed for time and dont have fellow students to talk with and help to motivate you along the way. Conclusion On my opinion, I think the invention of the Internet has both disadvantages and advantages. The disadvantages of using internet are that it has caused a lack of privacy and it has made it easier to commit crimes. The advantages of the internet are that it can be used for learning purposes and that it connects the world. Reference No.1 Jones, P. E., Wall, R. E. (1989). Raising the Mammoth :: Animals History Ice Age Essays

Raising the Mammoth Back in the spring of 2000, a documentary was broadcast from the scovery channel show on television, which millions tuned in to watch. This particular segment was dedicated to a recent discovery and excavation of a woolly mammoth found in the Siberian tundra of Russia. The expedition was headed by scientist, Bernard Buigues. This individual has organized over 20 different expeditions to the Siberian tundra of Russia, which made him highly qualified. Along with other colleges, Bernard successfully excavated a frozen, fully in tact, woolly mammoth that is said to be over 20,000 years old. (Head scientist: Bernard Buigues) What is a woolly mammoth? A woolly mammoth is a similar ancestor of the African and Asian elephants of today. It belongs to the same mammal classification known as proboscidenas, or mammals with long trunk like noses. Both of these breeds come from the same family tree but are distinct cousins. As you can see the woolly mammoth had fur all around it to protect it from the frigid Artic weather conditions of the ice age when it was around. These animals were travelers and like there cousins could be found in every continent besides Australia and South America. Not all looked alike but where classified together because of the trunk like nose characteristics. These animals would spend much of there time dedicated to eating and supporting their massive body weight. They were not carnivores but plant eaters. One woolly mammoth would eat up to 200 pounds of food a day to sustain it's self. It would dedicate up to 20 hours a day grazing on the fie lds and eating herbs, shrubs even parts of trees as it's diet. Because of their massive size the woolly mammoth really had no predators. Their huge tusks and ability to move with a deadly strike made them bullies of their ice age. A few would be taken down only due to old age or young lives but not as a mature adult. The woolly mammoth did live to a good age without many worries but with a huge appetite. The mammoth that was discovered in the Russian Siberian tundra was exactly this. So what is in the future for such a remarkable creature?

The scene of a beach on a beach on a hot summers day.

I stepped out into a burning oasis. Somehow I suddenly forgot about my home it seemed a world away from where I was standing. My eyes fluttered as a peered at the sun, the grains of sand at my feet began to feel familiar. As I started to wonder over the dunes. In the distance figures darting across the white hills appeared. I stopped quiet abruptly, and turned to the sea. My eyes glittered as I studied the waves. Boats on the horizon seemed like pointless dots on a piece of paper; forgotten but will always purpose. I saw a lilo bobbing in the in the uncharted waves. A body was placed so lightly upon the plastic float with skin so tender the light kissed it. Children playing so innocently by the shore, sand castles scattered about all with a different story to tell. The children were white with sun block as they paddled in the tide. I carried on stumbling over the boiling sand. I noticed some surfers taming the waves, that tossed them carelessly aside. I started to walk closer to the sea, I felt the salty cooling breeze upon my face so pure. I took off my shoes and sat by the shore as I once did when I was a child, now I was no longer alone. The seagulls ‘cooed' gently, then I heard the complete opposite to the seagulls soft voices I heard people, yelling and laughing I turned and saw a busy promenade. The peer was in the distance, the old fun-fair temping me over though now the heat was overpowering me. I carelessly dragged my feet up the cobbled steps to the promenade. Shops piled upon shops, people piled upon people. Shops filled with food as I pushed closer I began to smell all too familiar smells, that all my life had reminded me of this wonderful place, the seaside. Fish and chip bars placed in every other window it was as if I was walking down I hall of mirrors. After looking around for a while I began to feel very hot and tired so I returned back to the beach, boiling and sticky I slipped onto the sand. I lay looking at the clear blue sky, blue like the waves that calmly lapped the shore. A mother and child sat quietly beside me, the child holding a green spade that caught the light and made my eyes squint whilst he dug furiously into the sand. His mother lay perched on a deck chair, sunbathing her eyes fixed on her child. â€Å"Alfie† she called â€Å"be carefully†, the young child covered in a white paste giggled and carried on. I turned over now alone with my thoughts, staring back at me was a huge grey donkey part of a fleet of them that marched like soldiers alone the beach every single day, tens of times. His eyes; seemed tired and weepy. I went on to imagine how thirsty he must be in this intense heat. Volley ball pitches were littered upon the flat open range to my left. The noise of laugher filled the air people were every where to be seen, deckchairs and coloured umbrellas with families around them continued in sequent's as far as I could see down the flat plain of sand. I turned to my right once again, it looked like a untamed world compared with what I had just saw it was much quieter here. There was only the silent mother and her child to be seen. The mother now cradling her child tightly to her chest. The child was now lapping up a ice-cream, it must have been ice cold to touch the child's lips. The sun began to set upon a day full of interest. The tide began to draw near, closer and closer the water came, the light bouncing off the tiny waves. As the water prudently teased my toes. I stood up and walked knowing away from my oasis.

The Problem Of Female Violence - 1545 Words

Generally speaking, men are more aggressive in nature than women. In fact, violence is the one variable of which there are overwhelmingly skewed results proving gender differences. So we may ask ourselves, why do women strike men inside the house in relatively equal numbers, but nearly never resort to violence outside the home? Women for instance may argue that their aggression towards men is harmless, and that slapping a man is quite feminine. These explanations may likely have some validity, but neither addresses motivation for the violence, nor the context in which it occurs. When in actuality, empirical research on female violence tells another story. Bjorkqvist and Niemela (1992) provides us with evidence that women are as aggressive as males, but only when the chance of retaliation is minimal (Shuler, 2010). The Methodological Problem of Memory Methodological problems, in many cases, may skew the results. Retrospection is greatly relied upon in Crime Victimization Studies, and bias may extend itself to these studies as well. Our current interests may derail our accurate account of what actually happened therefore, retrospection may not be completely reliable. One may argue that men underreport victimization of violence by women because it is so emasculating and shaming. Women on the other hand may make false allegations which serves their interest in divorce or child custody hearings. Both of these assumptions are empirically groundless as evidenceShow MoreRelatedGender as Social Arrangements1337 Words   |  5 Pagesbeing male or female and society has created roles that reflect a gender to act in a certain way in society.
